Tutorial 28 · Skills Bank: teaching your agents a trade

What the video says

  1. The Skills Bank is where what your agents know how to do lives. A skill explains a trade: what that person does, how you know they are doing it well, and what they must never do.
  2. JMAX ships with one hundred and forty-seven of them, across twenty areas: administration, sales, accounting, logistics, trades and maintenance, health, agribusiness. Each one is a full record of a job role.
  3. Three ways to fill it. Create skill you write yourself. Import from file brings in records in Markdown you already have. And Bring the factory ones reloads the catalogue if you deleted something and want it back.
  4. With a hundred and forty-seven records the filters matter. Search by name, filter by area, and with the type you separate skills, which are knowing how to do something, from limits, which are what must never be done.
  5. Each record shows the job name, its area and a summary. View opens it, Edit changes it, Delete removes it from the bank. The factory ones can be edited too: they are a starting point, not something untouchable.
  6. Open a factory one and you see the full text exactly as it is stored: a Markdown file with its header and its body. One note: the factory catalogue ships written in Spanish, for Colombian job roles. Translate or rewrite the ones you adopt.
  7. To create your own, the editor asks five questions in plain language. The name of the role, and what it is for, explained in one sentence, the way you would tell someone starting today.
  8. What it does, step by step: one thing per line, no dashes and no formatting. This is the real work, in the order it happens. The more concrete you are, the better the agent using this record will work.
  9. How you know it is going well: what you would look at to tell whether the job went right, one per line. These are the indicators, in your own words. Stock accuracy, orders complete, customers who come back.
  10. And the most important of the five: what it must never do. These are the limits, and this is what protects you most, because the agent does not cross them. Never dispatch without confirming the movement, never discount without authorisation.
  11. What it works with: the systems and tools of the trade. It tells the agent where to look things up and where to write them down, leaning on whichever connectors you have set up.
  12. Below, which area it belongs to, so you can find it later, and what it is: a skill, which knows how to do something, or a limit, which is a rule applied across several agents at once.
  13. Press Save skill and it is in the bank, ready to be assigned to an agent from its profile. If an agent is not doing something right, fix the skill and everyone who has it improves.
  14. And if you would rather write it as one piece, open View or edit the full text: whatever you type there is saved exactly as written. That is the way to paste in a record you already have.
  15. One tip to make this pay off: start from the factory records for your line of business, open them and adjust them to how you actually work. Changing two lines of a good record beats writing one from scratch.
